Shorter Driver
I bought a new driver at the beginning of the golf season, I went with the Ping G10. I really liked how it felt the first few rounds, but didn’t have much control. I took it to Golfsmith where they put me on the swing analyzer to see if there was something goofy in my swing speed. After two swings, the guy told me that the driver was too long for me. I know there is one major ramification of cutting a driver down; loss of distance. This isn’t really a concern as I have always been a long ball hitter. I’m ok sacrificing some distance to gain control. So I told the guy to cut it down an inch!
I was a little nervous about the shorter driver, but the nerves were gone after my first drive. I have never hit a driver as well as I hit my short driver. Not only was I placing my drives and putting it in the fairway, I was also crushing it. Shortening my driver has been one of the best things I’ve done to improve my game…..only if it could help my putting!
